Do you know what the PFI is?
The Popular Front of India (PFI) was founded on February 17, 2007. This organization was formed through the merger of three Muslim organizations from South India. These included the Kerala National Democratic Front, the Karnataka Forum for Dignity and Manitha Neeti Pasarai of Tamil Nadu. PFI states that this organization is currently active in 23 states in the country.
After the ban on the Islamic Student Movement (SIMI) in the country, the PFI has spread rapidly. This organization is said to have great influence in the southern states of India like Karnataka, Kerala. It also has many branches. Since its inception there have been reports of anti-social and anti-national activities at PFI.
What are the claims made against this organization?
PFI is a radical organization. In 2017, the NIA wrote a letter to the Home Office calling for the organization to be banned. The NIA investigation had learned that this organization was allegedly engaged in violent and terrorist activities. According to the NIA file, this organization is a threat to national security. This organization works to impose religious intolerance on Muslims and force them to convert.
The NIA has accused the PFI of running a weapons training camp. In addition, this organization incites young people to join terrorist activities by turning them into fanatics.
